Favorite Spring Lipsticks with Swatches!
12:15 PMIt is finally starting to become springlike outside. I'm starting to pull out the spring clothes and at the same time, I'm switching up a little bit of my makeup for the warmer weather. I had a hard time narrowing down lipsticks for spring because I love so many! And I wanted to include some high-end, mid-priced and drugstore colors as well. In the end, I narrowed down a list of light/sheer lipsticks that are easy for those breezy spring days. And then I have a list of brights that will make your lips pop!
Swatches below!
First, here are the sheer colors. Though I love a bold lip, somedays are just too busy and "ain't nobody got time for that!" These are my favorites for those kind of days in the Spring:
- L'Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Lipstick in Sunset Angora ($10) - I am loving this formula for a light, sheer bit of color on the lips (obviously, since I have three of these on this list). This is a peach-coral with a shiny finish.
- L'Oreal Colour Riche Wet Shine Stain in Coral Tattoo ($10) - This coral leans more on the orange side and can be put on very sheer or build it up. Personally, I'm not a fan of this formula when it has been built up, so I prefer the sheer application.
- Laura Mercier Gel Lip Color in Grapefruit (in a set for $35) - This is a pinky peach that is very moisturizing and smells very nice. I love putting it on, but it is very sheer and wears off pretty quickly. I only use this when I know I'm having a day where it won't be weird to reapply often.
- L'Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Lipstick in Blushing Sequin ($10) - A wonderful pop of pink! Again, love this formula and the pink is just the perfect pop of natural pink color.
- Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick in Lush Rose ($21) - This is a nice bright pink, but still a bit more sheer with a somewhat frosty finish to it. A touch drying, but long-wearing.
- L'Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Lipstick in Cardinal Plume ($10) - Again, formula. Love it. This is easy to swipe on without a mirror, so t is is my go-to lipstick when I want to wear a red lip, but know I won't be able to reapply with a mirror. It builds up very easily and can go from a hint of color to a decent red lip.
- MAC Lipstick (Glaze) in Adore It ($15) - I've had this for a couple years and wore it constantly last spring/summer. It is a pinky red and has hints of gold shimmer. Easy red lip.
Brights! I tend to wear brights more because I like an opaque lipstick. Here are my favorites for Spring:
- Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color in Ginger Fawn ($48) - I think this color may be discontinued, but this formula is wonderful. Full coverage and feels like a dream. This is a lighter color color that isn't too far on the orange side but also doesn't lean too pink.
- Tarte Aqualillies Collection Lipstick in Timeless ($26) - I just got this when the collection came out. It is amazing. It is long-wearing and feels nice on the lips. It is a bright coral that just works for spring. It is a little more pink than Ginger Fawn, as you can see.
- Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain in #11 ($34) - This was my first YSL Glossy Stain and made me fall in love. This is a pinky red that can be worn sheer or build up for a nice glossy lip.
- NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul ($6) - I feel like these lip creams are underrated. I love how long-wearing they are and they don't dry out the lips. And this pink! It isn't a normal "bright" but since it is lighter than my natural lip color it kind of works as a anti-bright! I love this color though. Very pretty.
- Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté in Red Muse ($34) - Probably my favorite lipstick. The color is the perfect red that has a touch of pinkiness.
- Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain in #20 ($34) - A more orange-leaning red. This has some golden shimmer that adds something really beautiful, especially if you build it to look more glossy.
- MAC Archie's Girls Matte Lipstick in Ronnie Red ($15) - This was a limited edition, but I think it can still be found around the internet and maybe CCOs. Not only is this adorable packaging, but it's that same kind of red with a touch of bluey-pink to it that I love. Plus, it is a matte formula from MAC that isn't terribly drying!
- Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Red Label ($5.49) - A great, cheap alternative to some of these more pricey lipsticks. It doesn't feel quite as luxe on the lips and can be slightly drying, but the color payoff and wear time is excellent!
